FAQ for Copper Charlie Battery-equipped Induction Range

What you need to know before you buy.

If you’re reading this, you probably already have your eyes on Charlie. We wanted to spill the tea so you have all the goods for your future engagement.

👉 Does a battery induction range actually just plug into the wall?

  • Yup! These induction stoves just plug into a standard 120v outlet. For Copper Charlie, the outlet needs to be within 3’ of the stove and ideally, low and behind the stove. If the plug creates a gap behind the stove, contact Copper. They can send you a matching, stainless steel, gap-filling panel.

👉 Will it cook during a power outage?

  • Yes! Finally, a stove that works when the power goes down. Copper Charlie’s battery has enough reserve to cook between 3-6 meals.

👉 Can I set the battery to charge during my preferred times of the day?

  • Yes! Copper Charlie is programmed to work for most homes and utility rate plans to optimize for energy efficiency. If you have specific needs, please contact Copper with your range number (found on the top right of your oven door) and your preferred configuration.

👉 How do I order my Charlie range?

👉 Is the Sea Salt White color closer to white or beige?

  • White! It just looks beige in some photos with natural light.

👉 How does delivery scheduling work?

  • When your range is ordered, it's placed into an order queue. The dates listed on the Copper site are our best estimates for range shipment based on current order volumes and production volumes. This can vary if, for example, ranges are damaged in shipment.

  • If you ordered with installation included, Copper will connect you with the installation company about 1 week before your range ships.
  • Once your position in the order queue comes up, you can coordinate with the delivery company or installation partner for the exact timing.

👉 How does installation work?

  • Copper Charlies is 354 lbs heavy. Use an installation service. Or if you’re moving it yourself, use shoulder dolly straps or arm slings. Unbox it first, then move it through an entrance at least 32" wide and into the kitchen. Read more installation tips and tricks on Copper’s website.

👉 Do induction coils have to match the size of the pan, or else they don’t heat?

  • No more than any other cooktop. Whether you’re using gas or induction, the edges beyond the ring will heat by conductivity. The closer in size to the element, the better, but in the end, heat spreads to the outer edges. A high-quality pan will take uneven heat and distribute it more evenly. The only real difference is the minimum ring size. Copper Charlie will cook on any pot or pan above 4.3”

👉 What’s that buzzing sound my Charlie makes when I'm not using it? Is that normal?

  • Yes, it sure is! Charlie has temperature sensors that trigger fans to keep Charlie cool, calm, and collected at all times.
