What QM Code (Form 5895) do I need for the heat pump tax credit?
From Midea to Rheem, here are the most common Qualified Manufacturer (QM) codes for the Federal heat pump tax credit.
If you're eligible for a heat pump tax credit, one of the final steps is to include project expenses and 4-digit Qualified Manufacturer (QM) code in your tax filing (Part II of Form 5695).
Please contact your tax preparer if you have detailed questions about claiming these credits.
QM codes can be difficult to find. For more information about claiming Federal tax credits for heat pumps, water heaters, insulation, etc., click here.
Here are the most common QM codes:
| Brand | QMID |
|---|---|
| Midea | X7Z8 |
| A.O. Smith | A5X5 |
| Daikin | I7Q6 |
| Goodman | I7Q6 |
| Amana | I7Q6 |
| Bosch | K3M2 |
| Fujitsu | F8N3 |
| Friedrich | N2V1 |
| Heil | N8H2 |
| Allied | L7S0 |
| Navien | M6G5 |
| Bradford White | V5B3 |
| RUUD | K3A8 |
| Rheem | K3A8 |
Note: the 4-digit code is for the manufacturer, not the brand. That's why multiple brands (like Daikin, Goodman, and Amana) have the same code.
Many affordable heat pumps are manufactured by Midea and white-labeled under a domestic brand. In the case, use Midea's QM code (#X7Z8).
