Overview
CleanPowerSF's Water Heater Upgrade Program offers a rebate of $1,200 when you switch to a clean, efficient heat pump water heater. This program provides a $50 monthly bill credit for two years, or up to three years if you're enrolled in a discount program like CARE or FERA. To be eligible, you must be a residential customer of CleanPowerSF and replace your existing water heater with an eligible heat pump model. Your new water heater must also be enrolled in a demand response program, such as OhmConnect, Automated Response Technology, or Hourly Flex Pricing. Additionally, ensure compliance with permit requirements from the Department of Building Inspection. Don't worry—your QuitCarbon-referred contractor will handle this for you.

- To qualify, you must be a residential customer of CleanPowerSF.
- Replace your existing water heater with an ENERGYSTAR® certified heat pump water heater with a Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) of 3.3 or greater.
- Enroll your new water heater in PG&E’s WatterSaver Program for daily load shifting.
- Ensure compliance with permit requirements from the Department of Building Inspection. Your QuitCarbon-referred contractor will assist with this process.
