The City of Palo Alto offers a rebate for attic and roof insulation upgrades, categorized under home envelope improvements. This rebate provides up to $1,000, with a maximum of $0.75 per square foot. To qualify, the insulation must meet specific R-value requirements: R-30 for standard attics and R-19 for Eichler homes or those with flat roofs. Acceptable materials include fiberglass batts, blown fiberglass, cellulose, dense pack cellulose, rockwool, spray foam, rigid foam, mineral or stone wool, natural fiber, or recycled textiles. Please note, this rebate is an add-on and cannot be applied for independently; it must be requested alongside a heat pump water heater or heat pump HVAC system installation.
