The City of Palo Alto offers a $2,500 rebate for homeowners replacing their fossil fuel-based heating systems with a heat pump HVAC system. If you're a REAP customer, you can save an additional $2,500, totaling $5,000 in savings!

This rebate only applies to replacing existing fossil fuel appliances.

More Information

  • Eligibility: Homeowners with active electric and gas utility services from the City of Palo Alto are eligible.
  • Application Process: Create a project in the Rebate Hub, submit a rebate reservation application with photos of existing appliances, and, upon approval, complete the installation within 120 days.
  • Final Steps: After installation, submit the final rebate application with required documentation, such as invoices and proof of permit inspection, within 90 days of passing the final inspection.
  • Program End Date: The heat pump HVAC rebate is available for projects completed on or after January 13, 2025. All rebate applications must be submitted no later than 90 days after the project has passed final inspection.
