Overview
The City of Palo Alto offers a rebate for homeowners replacing their electric resistance water heaters with heat pump water heaters (HPWHs). To qualify, the HPWH must meet Product Tier 3 or higher standards. This rebate provides $500 toward the cost of the new appliance.
This rebate only applies to replacing existing electric resistance appliances.

- Application Process: Before selecting a contractor, submit a rebate reservation application online, including photos of your existing appliances to be replaced.
- Installation Deadline: After approval, you have 120 days to complete the installation and submit the final rebate application with required documentation, such as invoices and proof of permit inspection.
