Rebate Overview
Overview
The City of Piedmont offers a rebate for homeowners installing a new mini-split heat pump system. This incentive provides savings of $750 for standard applicants and $1,500 for income-qualified residents. No previous air conditioning system is required to qualify for this rebate.
Benefits
Upgrading to a mini-split heat pump enhances your home's comfort by providing efficient heating and cooling. This system reduces energy consumption, leading to lower utility bills and a smaller carbon footprint. Additionally, it can increase your home's value and appeal to future buyers.
More Information
- Eligibility: This rebate is available to homeowners replacing existing gas furnaces with a mini-split heat pump system. The new system must be certified by the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and listed in the AHRI Directory of Certified Equipment. All units must meet or exceed a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 16.0 and a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) of 8.5. The system may also be added to buildings without existing air conditioning systems.
- Income Qualification: Income-qualified residents are eligible for double the standard rebate amount, receiving $1,500 instead of $750. To verify income eligibility, provide a copy of your utility bill showing participation in the CARE or FERA discounted rate programs, verification that the unit is deed-restricted affordable housing, or a copy of your tax returns.
- Application Process: To apply for the rebate, submit all required forms to the designated email address. Ensure that all necessary documentation, including proof of purchase and installation, is included with your application.
- Program End Date: The program is ongoing and does not have a specified end date. However, it's advisable to apply promptly, as funding availability may change.
- Contractor Information: Homeowners are encouraged to work with qualified contractors for the installation of the mini-split heat pump system. A list of certified contractors can be obtained from the city's resources or by contacting the appropriate department.
