Overview
CleanPowerSF is offering a rebate for homeowners who upgrade to a heat pump water heater. This rebate provides a $50 monthly bill credit for two years, totaling $1,200. If you refer another CleanPowerSF residential customer, you can receive an extra two months of credits, up to twice per account. Please note that bill credits increase the duration of credits you receive but do not double your monthly credit amount. To be eligible, you must:
- Replace an existing gas or electric resistance water heater with an ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump water heater.
- Enroll the new water heater in a demand response program, such as OhmConnect, Automated Response Technology, or Hourly Flex Pricing. Alternatively, you can enroll your heat pump in an authorized load shift program like WatterSaver if it reopens (the program is currently paused).
- Ensure the upgrade is permitted and inspected, which is recommended for safety and compliance. Your QuitCarbon-referred contractor will assist with this process.
