Overview

The GO ZERO: Harvest Rebate is a program that offers homeowners a rebate of $1,000 for installing a heat pump water heater. Certain Harvest systems can qualify for both GO ZERO rebates—$1,000 for a heat pump water heater and another $1,500 for a heat pump air conditioning and heating system. To qualify, there are some requirements that must be met:

• You must install a certain kind of Harvest system that includes space heating and air conditioning to qualify for the heat pump air conditioning and heating rebate (your QuitCarbon-approved contractor will make sure you have the right device!)
• Installation occurred on or after June 24, 2025.
• Limited to one heat pump water heater rebate and one heat pump air conditioner rebate per dwelling.
• Your heat pump must already be installed.
• Your building must total less than 5 attached units.

To qualify for the rebate bonuses totaling $2,500, you must reside within an overburdened community designated by areas identified under Senate Bill 535. You can search for your home address and see if it is in a qualifying location using the Cal Enviro Screen website.

• Rebates are available for replacing gas or propane HVAC or water-heating systems with a qualified heat pump.

• Rebates typically range from $1,000 to $2,000 per heat pump, with higher amounts available for single-family homes in overburdened communities.
• To qualify for the rebate bonuses totaling $2,500, you must reside within an overburdened community designated by areas identified under Senate Bill 535.
• To apply, submit a completed application along with a copy of your invoice. If the rebate will be issued to the contractor, a signed Release of Rebate Funds form is also required.
• Funding is limited, and submitting a rebate application does not guarantee you will receive a rebate.
• Rebates are for eligible water heating appliances installed on or after June 13, 2025, and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis when funding is available.
• Applications received prior to the close of the rebate offer period, but which had no rebate issued due to a limitation of funding, may have priority consideration by conducting earlier evaluation for a rebate in the next phase, if the installation qualifies for a rebate in the next phase.
• If program funding has been completely exhausted or the program offering period has concluded, all non-funded customers will be notified by South Coast AQMD if/when additional funding is available so that you may reapply.
• Rebate checks will become void 90 days after the date they are issued. If a customer selects a pre-paid physical or digital gift card, those funds will expire 6 months after issuance.
• Rebate applications must be complete and are subject to verification and review for accuracy, including all necessary documentation. The supporting invoice must include, at minimum, the model number, serial number, the installation date, equipment cost, installation cost, and required electrical upgrade cost for the qualifying appliance. Further documentation may be requested.
• Applicants eligible for the additional incentive available to overburdened communities must live in a community designated by State of California SB 535 as a Disadvantaged Community. The State of California has provided a map of these communities and this map can be found at the Cal Enviro Screen website.
