Peninsula Clean Energy offers a $2,000 rebate for residents of San Mateo County and the City of Los Banos when purchasing a used electric vehicle (EV) from a participating dealer. This rebate is applied at the time of purchase, requiring no additional application. Alternatively, you can apply on your own and receive the rebate by mail. To qualify, the EV must be at least two years old and purchased from a participating dealer.

- Eligibility: To qualify, you must be a resident of San Mateo County or the City of Los Banos and have not received a Peninsula Clean Energy Used EV rebate in the past three years. The EV must be a used plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicle, at least two years old, purchased from a participating dealer. Private party purchases are not eligible.
- Income Qualifications: There are two options to meet income qualifications:
- Option 1: Modified gross adjusted income cannot exceed $150,000 for married filing jointly or a surviving spouse, $112,500 for heads of households, or $75,000 for all other tax filers. You must provide your most recent 1040 form; 1099 forms and pay stubs are not accepted.
- Option 2: Participation in an eligible program such as Clean Cars for All, Clean Vehicle Assistance Program, Driving Clean Assistance Program, Clipper START, residency in Affordable Housing, Public Housing, or Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), CalFresh/SNAP (Food Stamps), Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), CalWORKs (TANF) or Tribal TAN, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Free or Reduced National School Lunch Program (NSLP), or Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance Head Start Income Eligible (Tribal Only).
