The San José Clean Energy EcoHome Rebate Program offers a rebate of $2,000 for homeowners replacing their old gas water heaters with energy-efficient heat pump water heaters. This initiative helps you save on energy bills and supports a cleaner environment. If you qualify as an income-qualified household or reside in a qualifying community, you can receive an additional $1,000, bringing the total rebate to $3,000. This rebate only applies to replacing existing fossil fuel appliances.

- Eligibility: Applicants must be San José Clean Energy residential customers with an active account and no overdue balance at the time of application.
- Installation Requirements: The installation site must be a single-family home, mobile or manufactured home, accessory-dwelling unit (ADU), or multi-family building with 10 or fewer units.
- Rebate Limitations: Only one rebate per equipment type is allowed per dwelling unit.
- Program Term: The program is effective upon the City’s approval of the applicant’s enrollment and remains in effect until five years after program completion, or earlier termination in accordance with the agreement.
- Contractor Information: Applicants must use a licensed contractor for the installation, and the installation must meet code and permitting requirements.
