The San José Clean Energy EcoHome Rebate: Home Battery (Low-Income Bonus) is a rebate program designed to help eligible homeowners save on home battery systems. If you qualify under SJCE income requirements, you can boost your savings to $400 per kilowatt-hour, up to a maximum of $10,400! To see if you qualify, refer to the income limits guide. Please note, the home battery must be paired with an existing or new solar system.

More Information
- Rebates are limited to 10 installation sites per applicant per year, except for Environmental Justice Community-qualified applicants.
- Rebates may be paid directly to eligible contractors or installers at the applicant's request.
- After installation, the property owner becomes the owner of the rebated equipment.
- Applicants seeking an EcoHome Rebate for battery storage agree to enroll 80% of their battery’s capacity in SJCE’s Peak Rewards for Smart Homes Program.
- Enrolling 80% of the battery’s capacity allows SJCE to automatically use up to this amount on a daily basis to provide financial benefits to the applicant and help reduce energy demand during peak times.
- The remaining 20% of the applicant’s battery’s capacity will stay in reserve for use during outages or other needs.
- Once enrolled in Peak Rewards for Smart Homes, the applicant must remain enrolled in the program for at least three years, following the date that their Peak Rewards application is approved.
- The applicant will receive payment for automatic battery adjustments through the Peak Rewards for Smart Homes Program.
