The Santa Barbara Clean Energy Electrical Upgrade for EV Charging and Heat Pumps is a rebate program offering up to $2,000 off electrical upgrades needed for a new Level 2 electric vehicle charger or heat pump system. To qualify, proof of electrical permitting is required.

More Information
- Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last.
- Applications are accepted from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, or until funds are fully used.
- Eligible applicants must be active customers of Santa Barbara Clean Energy with an account in good standing.
- Applicants must own a single-family home, duplex, townhome, or mobile home served by Santa Barbara Clean Energy.
- All electrical and appliance replacement work must be completed during the program period to be eligible for rebates.
- Rebates are available for heat pump water heaters, heat pump heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, and associated electrical work.
- One rebate per electric account per fiscal year is allowed for each upgrade measure.
- Applicants must continue to receive Santa Barbara Clean Energy's generation service at the location where the upgrades are installed for a minimum of five years from the date of installation.
- An opted-out customer may re-enroll in Santa Barbara Clean Energy to participate in its programs. By re-enrolling and applying for Santa Barbara Clean Energy programs, customers agree to remain enrolled in Santa Barbara Clean Energy service for five years.
- Mobile and manufactured homes must be individually metered.
- Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis based on application submission date while program funds are available.
- Rebates are available for heat pump water heaters, heat pump heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, and associated electrical work.
