Overview
The SMUD Charge@Home rebate program offers homeowners up to $600 to help cover the costs of installing electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment and related electrical work. This includes up to $100 for a qualifying Level 2 EV charger, up to $200 for a circuit-sharing or energy management device, and up to $500 for professional installation by a SMUD-approved contractor. Please note that certain devices, such as Tesla Wall Connectors, may not meet SMUD's specifications; however, Tesla owners can use a qualifying charger with an adapter.

More Information
- To qualify, your plug-in electric vehicle must be registered with the DMV at the same address as your SMUD service.
- The equipment must be purchased and installed on or after December 8, 2021.
- Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to funding availability.
- Each household is eligible for one full rebate, covering one EV charger, one circuit-sharing or energy management device, and one installation.
- Income-qualified customers enrolled in SMUD’s Energy Assistance Program Rate (EAPR) may be eligible for additional rebates, including a free charger and installation.
- The program is effective beginning December 8, 2021.
