Overview
The SMUD Go Electric Bonus is a rebate program designed to help homeowners prepare their homes for all-electric appliances. By upgrading your electrical panel and adding necessary circuits, you can receive up to $2,500 in rebates. This includes up to $500 for each eligible circuit, such as those for a dryer, cooktop or range, and electric vehicle charger. Additionally, if a subpanel is required to accommodate these upgrades, you can receive an extra $500. To qualify, your home must be all-electric ready, with the upgraded panel and all eligible circuits installed. It's important to use a participating contractor from the SMUD Contractor Network to submit your rebate application. Please note that rebates are subject to availability of funding.

More Information
- To be eligible, you must replace an existing gas furnace or gas water heater with a qualifying heat pump.
- Each eligible circuit must be wired to the source, including wire and breaker.
- The home must be all-electric ready, with the panel plus all eligible circuits installed.
- Rebates are subject to availability of funding.
- To apply, use a participating contractor from the SMUD Contractor Network.
- Federal tax credits are available for qualifying panel upgrades installed between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025.
- The tax credit allows you to claim up to 30% of the project cost, up to a maximum of $600.
- The tax credit expires on December 31, 2025.
