Overview
The SMUD Go Electric Bonus is a rebate program designed to help homeowners electrify their homes. By upgrading your electrical panel and adding circuits for electric appliances, you can receive a rebate of up to $2,500. To qualify, your home must be all-electric ready, with the panel and all eligible circuits installed.
Benefits
Upgrading to an all-electric home enhances comfort and safety by eliminating gas appliances. It also increases your home's value and reduces environmental impact by decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.
More Information
- Rebate amount: Up to $2,500 per home
- Eligible circuits include: Electric vehicle charger, range or cooktop, and clothes dryer
- Rebate is available for each eligible circuit installed, up to a total of $2,000
- Electrical panel upgrade must be ≤ 200 amps
- Home must be all-electric ready with the panel plus all eligible circuits to qualify
- Must use a participating contractor in the SMUD Contractor Network to submit rebates
- Rebates are subject to availability of funding
- Federal tax credits are available for qualifying panel upgrades installed starting January 1, 2023. You can claim up to 30% of the project cost, up to a maximum of $600. Note that not all panel upgrades that qualify for the SMUD rebate are eligible for the tax credit. The tax credit expires on December 31, 2025
