Overview
The SMUD Heat Pump Rebate offers homeowners up to $2,000 when replacing existing fossil fuel heating systems with energy-efficient heat pump HVAC systems. To qualify, the new system must have a variable-stage compressor and a connected thermostat. If you choose a two-stage system, the rebate is $1,000. Additionally, the installation must pass Title 24 via HERS CF3R, and any new ductwork must be insulated to a minimum of R8.
This rebate only applies to replacing existing fossil fuel appliances.
