Overview

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) offers a rebate for homeowners replacing their old electric water heaters with energy-efficient heat pump water heaters. This rebate provides $500 off the cost of your new unit.

This rebate only applies to replacing existing electric resistance appliances.

Benefits

Upgrading to a heat pump water heater can lower your energy bills and reduce your home's carbon footprint. These systems are more efficient than traditional models, helping you save money over time. Additionally, using electricity instead of gas reduces greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment.
