FAQs
How does this impact my Net Metering (NEM 1.0/2.0) agreement?
Congrats on already making a commitment to solar. The Bright Saver 2, 3, or 4-panel system can be plugged into your home with no change to your NEM 1.0/2.0 plan.
Can I install plug-in solar on my roof?
It is strongly recommended to NOT put plug-in solar on your roof. If you want roof-mounted solar, please reach out and we can refer you to a licensed solar contractor to discuss your options.
What kind of outlet is needed?
The Bright Saver system plugs into a GFCI outlet, ideally on a dedicated circuit.
I'm producing more energy than I'm using. Where does the excess energy go?
The energy generated by Bright Saver solar panels should plug into a dedicated circuit that will flow back to your panel and either be distributed to meet demand in your home or, if not, then sent back to the grid for NEM credit.
How much power will be produced?
Bright Saver panels are rated at 410W each in full sun, so you can expect 0.3-0.35 kWh for each hour of direct sun. Partial shade installations will decrease that energy generation.
How large are the panels and what kind of support do they need?
Bright Saver panels are 68" x 45" and they weigh 45 lbs each. All product specs can be found here.
The panels come with metal braces that make it incredibly easy to install. We do not recommend attaching them to any structure as they would bring permits into the equation.
How does delivery work?
Bright Saver provides pickup and delivery options when you purchase. If you are outside their delivery area, you will need to arrange pickup at their Bright Saver's Richmond CA warehouse.
