The California Energy Smart Homes rebate is a program that rewards homeowners for fully electrifying their homes and disconnecting from gas service. To qualify, your home must be entirely electric, and you must have disconnected all gas lines. This rebate is not available for homes that use propane. The base rebate amount for 2025 is $3,750, with potential additional bonuses bringing the total up to $10,400. Most projects will qualify for an additional $1,000 for electrical infrastructure upgrades and a $300 bonus for installing variable speed heat pumps. Air-to-water combination systems also qualify for an $800 bonus for low-global warming potential heat pumps and a $1,000 bonus for integrated heating and hot water systems.
