• Rebate amounts vary based on the size of the water heater being replaced and the new unit installed. For example, replacing a 30–40 gallon natural gas water heater with a 45–55 gallon heat pump water heater may qualify for a $700 rebate, while replacing a 40–50 gallon natural gas water heater with a 55–75 gallon heat pump water heater may qualify for a $900 rebate.
• To be eligible, the heat pump water heater must have a minimum Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) of 3.30 and be on the Qualified Products List at the time of purchase.
• The rebate is issued as a retail coupon to use at checkout in-store or online through a participating retailer.
• Customers must reside in a single-family, multifamily, manufactured, or mobile home and be an electric customer of SDG&E, SCE, or PG&E.
• Thermostat installations may be inspected at random by phone, email, and/or in person by the program and/or the participating California utilities and/or the CPUC.
