The EV Level 2 Residential Charger Rebate is a program offered by Riverside Public Utilities to encourage homeowners to install Level 2 electric vehicle chargers. Eligible customers can receive a rebate of up to $500 for the purchase and installation of a new Level 2 charger at their residence. This rebate is available to Riverside Public Utilities customers who install a Level 2 (240-Volt AC) plug-in charger at their home on or after July 1, 2021.

More Information
- The charger must be wall-mounted at the installation address.
- An electrical permit from the City of Riverside’s Building and Safety Division is required for the installation of a hard-wired EV charger or new/modified 240V power socket.
- Applicants that utilize an existing 240V power socket are responsible for ensuring the existing socket is compatible with the charger plug type and loading requirements.
- A maximum of one rebate per household is allowed every three years.
- Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis until funding has been exhausted or the program is discontinued.
- Rebates less than $500 will be applied as a bill credit to the RPU customer account.
- Rebate checks for amounts of $500 or more will arrive by mail in 6 to 8 weeks.
- Applications must be submitted within 180 days of completed installation.
- Riverside Public Utilities may conduct on-site inspections to verify information provided in the application.
