Rebate Overview

Overview

QuitCarbon is excited to share the SMUD Induction Cooktop/Range Rebate Replacing Electric, a rebate program offered by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). This program provides a $100 rebate for homeowners who replace their existing electric resistance cooktops or ranges with new induction models measuring 24 inches or larger. Please note that portable units are not eligible for this rebate.

Benefits

Upgrading to an induction cooktop or range offers several advantages. Induction cooking heats up a pot of water nearly twice as fast as gas or standard electric cooktops, making meal preparation quicker and more efficient. Additionally, induction cooktops are more energy-efficient than traditional electric models, which can lead to savings on your electric bill. The sealed surface design enhances safety by eliminating exposed heating elements or open flames, and the cooktop remains cool unless cookware is present. Moreover, induction cooktops produce zero kitchen pollution, as they do not release harmful pollutants like carbon monoxide or formaldehyde into the air. Cleaning is also easier due to the smooth surface, and precise digital controls allow for exact heat adjustments, ensuring consistent cooking results. Lastly, the focused heat minimizes wasted energy, keeping your kitchen cooler and more comfortable.

More Information

  • To qualify for the rebate, the induction cooktop or range must measure 24 inches or larger. Both standalone cooktops and ranges with built-in induction cooktops are eligible; however, portable units do not qualify.
  • The rebate application must be submitted within 180 days of purchase to be considered valid.
  • For gas-to-induction replacements, a "before" photo of the old gas cooktop or range and an "after" photo of the new induction cooktop or range are required to process the rebate.
  • If you have questions about the status of your rebate, you can contact SMUD's Rebate Center by email or by calling 916-732-7550.
